European Museum of the Year 2014
Event’s Eithne Owens was in Tallinn last week for the European Museum Forum’s annual conference. The highlight of the conference is the announcement of the winner of European Museum of the Year. Following two days of inspiring presentations from this year’s shortlisted projects, the winner was revealed: the Museum of Innocence in Istanbul.
Event has a long association with the EMF and the EMYA – last year’s winner was the Event-designed Riverside Museum in Glasgow. To celebrate this relationship and as a mark of Event’s commitment to the European museum sector, 2014 saw the launch of an Event travel bursary. The bursary is available to museum professionals who would not otherwise be able to attend the EMYA conference.
Eithne came back full of ideas, commenting ‘it was a truly inspiring and invigorating event and a real pleasure to meet so many passionate advocates for museums!’
We’re already looking forward to next year’s EMYAs which will take place in Glasgow.
