Natural History Museum, Oslo

January 23, 2014

Event has just completed concept design for two galleries at the Natural History Museum in Oslo. Event’s team very much enjoyed the collaboration with the Norwegian client - as well as their visits to Oslo.

The Natural History Museum inhabits a beautiful Art Nouveau building in the Botanic Gardens; among the challenges of the project is the need to preserve the historic interior (including original showcases!) while delivering innovative exhibition design.

The first of the galleries focuses on petroleum - emphasising the fossil origins of this fossil fuel; the other gallery tackles the two huge concepts of evolution and geological time.

Project designer Phaedra Corrigan commented that the client was very supportive of a more aesthetically driven approach to presenting Natural History, which offered exciting possibilities for the design.
