Louth's Industrial Legacy

From Farm to Factory, Dundalk County Museum

Housed in the magnificent spaces of the P.J. Carroll warehouse in Jocelyn Street, the goal of From Farm to Factory was to highlight the various industries found in the county and to outline Dundalk’s industrial development. Although Ireland’s smallest county, the range of industries in Co. Louth is considerable, in part due to its geographical location, midway between Dublin and Belfast.

Key industries were selected and their growth and impact on the county demonstrated through a lively mixture of displays. The interconnectedness of the stories gives the exhibition energy and movement.

Louth’s industrial past is brought to life using objects, archival materials, original advertisements and multimedia displays.

Visitors emerge from an exhibition which is as vibrant and busy as a factory floor, with a better understanding of the people and processes which produced so many everyday necessities.
