Simply Plants

Simply Plants, National Botanic Garden of Wales

The first national botanic garden to be built in more than 100 years, the Millennium funded Gaard Fontaneg, in Carmarthenshire, featured an Event designed exhibition in a Norman Foster designed glasshouse.

Bringing the Mediterranean environment to the valleys of South Wales for the year 2000, exhibitions were designed to compliment the horticultural displays, promote sustainability and foster understanding of the relationship between plants and ourselves.

Aimed primarily at children aged 7-12, Simply Plants was a dynamic and colourful exploration of the life cycle of Mediterranean plants from seeds on the move, through roots and shoots, leaves, flowers, fruit and back to seeds.

Displays demonstrated fundamental biological processes through large scale models and mobiles, audio visual time lapse film and a range of hands on and computer based interactives.
