A Place of Retreat

St Katherine’s Protectorate Visitor Centre

Sinai is one of the most beautiful places on Earth, a spectacular landscape full of sacred meaning.

Since Biblical times, pilgrims have been drawn to its religious sites. In 2002, the area of St Katherine’s was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Visitor Centre at St Katherine’s stimulates and informs, expanding visitors’ perception of the natural, cultural and religious history of the Protectorate.

A series of buildings are themed around the idea of origins and linked by terraces with stunning views. The succession of environments and spaces creates an inspirational journey as visitors move from detailed interpretation to contemplation of the extraordinary.
