Journeys of the Imagination

The Clore Interactive Gallery, Manchester Art Gallery

The Clore Interactive Gallery is a ground-breaking presentation designed to inspire, delight and inform art lovers of the future.

Event’s interpretive approach was inspired by a solid silver model galleon in the gallery’s decorative arts collection. This wonderful object conjured up images of quests and journeys of discovery into the imagination and the self.

The silver galleon forms the hub of the displays in a world of blue sky and clouds, taking visitors on a voyage into the world of art.

Twenty accessible art works were selected as “pause points” which lend themselves to playful and varied styles of interpretation.

Each artwork is the subject of an interactive display, designed to encourage young visitors to connect and engage with the work and the inspiration behind it.

‘The Clore Interactive Gallery has quickly become the most talked about area of Manchester Art Gallery. Event worked closely and productively with a team of our staff over two years. They developed the initial brief with great flair and produced a design that was full of quirks of imagination to engage children, yet display our artworks stylishly. Event was a pleasure to work with from start to finish.’
