'Yau Tsim Mong' Exhibition opens in Hong Kong

Yau Tsim Mong – The Urban Transition and Community Bonds, is one of three new temporary galleries in the Multifaceted Hong Kong Exhibition Series at the Hong Kong Museum of History.

Our interpretive design explores the transformation of the Yau Tsim Mong district from the early 19th century to today, tracing how its rich urban fabric and strong community bonds have shaped one of Hong Kong’s most vibrant neighbourhoods.

Home to a dense population and immense cultural diversity, Yau Tsim Mong is often seen as a microcosm of the city itself. Visitors are invited to walk through time – from historic alleyways to modern streets – uncovering the stories, people and places that reflect the wider development of Kowloon and Hong Kong as a whole.

This gallery is a celebration of the distinct history and heritage that defines Yau Tsim Mong, and the role it plays in shaping the ever-evolving Hong Kong story.
