Event to Masterplan the State Tretyakov Gallery, Russia’s Museum of National Art
Event is delighted to be working with the Gallery directorate on this prestigious project. The State Tretyakov Gallery is one of Russia’s three great art galleries alongside the Pushkin Museum and State Hermitage Museum. It contains the country’s superb and unique collection of Russia art, spanning nearly a thousand years to the present day.
In winning this international competition to develop a new strategic plan for the Gallery, Event has taken to heart the aspiration of new director Zelfira Tregulova and her core team to transform the organisation’s giant physical and organisational infrastructure – consisting of seven sites across Moscow and a staff of 1500 – into a world-class visitor attraction and leading museum fit for the 21st century.
Event’s work on this project includes a comprehensive spatial analysis and physical potential of all its buildings, analysis of its finances, analysis of its current brand and communications, and the development of a new curatorial strategy, refined market intelligence, enhanced digital activity, revitalised public engagement, re-structured organisation.
The Tretyakov’s estate portfolio includes historic 19th century buildings created by the Gallery’s founder, Pavel Tretyakov, at the Lavrushinsky site, a 20th century modernist edifice at Krimsky Val, a series of four characterful artists’ houses and the original Tretyakov family home. Event’s subtle grasp of the differing needs and priorities of each venue has informed the strategic plan, along with our extensive understanding of the elements that make up a multi-layered and rich visitor experience: stunning galleries, fully accessible social spaces, vibrant partnerships and visitor-focused programming.
