Fuelling our World

The mission for The Ahmad Al-Jaber Oil & Gas Exhibition was twofold: to impress and inspire. Designed for school children as much as visiting heads of state, the museum both celebrates the power of oil and its impact on people’s lives, while also inspiring young Kuwaitis to pursue a career in the energy sector.

The landmark building, looking out across a series of major oil installations in the Ahmadi landscape, reflects the status of the Kuwait Oil Company. It is also a tangible symbol of oil’s power in turning Kuwait into one of the most prosperous nations in the world.

From its beginnings in the rocks to being shipped around the world, you are taken on a journey that explores the impact that oil has on our lives. Interactive exhibits excite, entertain and inform you about the extraordinary world of oil, turning complex industrial processes into easy-to-understand ideas.

Our design uses moments of spectacle to draw you into the story. Theatrical and immersive techniques let you feel the force of the oil around you. See six tonnes of simulated oil bubbling up in a pipeline and fill a three-meter-high tube in just seconds in a powerful demonstration of the vast quantities of oil being refined every minute by the Kuwait Oil Company. Learn about firefighters’ heroism during the Iraqi withdrawal and feel the heat from real bursts of flames as they evoke the burning oil wells.

Throughout the experience, a series of multimedia exhibits introduce you to industry experts who are a human face for the oil sector. From geoscientists to tanker pilots, the experts set younger visitors a series of challenges that ask if they have ‘what it takes’ to work in the industry.
