This exhibition displayed the finest examples of Mughal painting. The mood of the exhibition was sumptuous, yet delicate, evoking courtly life in the Mughal Empire. Contrasts of scale drew attention to the decorative detailing of the objects while the colour palette – shades of rose, saffron, turquoise, violet and jade – was used with restraint and sensitivity to complement the artworks.
